About ExploringNWO

I enjoy photography and things that fly, model aircraft have been a long-time hobby and now I've found a fun way to combine the two with a quadcopter. I created this page and YouTube channel to house the videos from the quadcopter, I mainly am interested in cool weather events and seeing other unique natural phenomena from a different viewpoint. I will update this page with videos as I get them so check back often!

Downtown Toledo Skyline

Flew the quadcopter in Downtown Toledo this morning at sunrise. The sunrise was beautiful and the skyline looks pretty nice from the air.  I can't wait to go back once everything turns green!

Maumee River Update

I went down to the Maumee River just after sunrise this morning and shot this video.  It is incredible how much better it looks than it did last week!  There's hope for the Walleye fisherman to get down there before July after all!  Check out all of the ice to the south of Ewing Island, [...]

Maumee River Ice on Soccer Field

As I was driving around looking for a good place to fly to see the river I came across this park which was mostly flooded.  The soccer fields had giant chunks of ice on them from when the water levels were higher the week before.  It was pretty neat to see.  I'm sure this area [...]

The Writing on the Roof

This is Grace Church in Toledo, Ohio.  Their website gracetoledo.org is painted on the roof in giant letters which can be seen from aircraft flying overhead and will also appear in Google Satellite Imagery.  I flew over a few times at different altitudes, highest was about 400'.  It was snowing so visibility was low, I was [...]

Aerial View of West Toledo near Spring Meadows

I flew the quadcopter up on Friday morning off of Angola Road.  I was hoping to get more of the sunrise but it was 7:15am so I missed most of that.  I do like how the angle of the sun reflects off of everything below.   Aside from being 10 degrees it was a perfect [...]

Aerial Look at Maumee/Perrysburg Bridge

This video was taken from the boat launch/park just west of the Conant Street Bridge over the Maumee River on March 5, 2014.  Lots of Ice floating in the river!  It was a windy day so the video is a bit bumpy.  I wonder when the Walleye fishermen will be able to get out there [...]

Frozen Canal in Grand Rapids, Ohio

This is the canal in Grand Rapids, Ohio.  The canal is frozen solid!  This HDR Picture was taken last weekend, I expected the water in the canal and in the Maumee River to be much higher.  I'm sure once the snow and ice start to melt that flooding will be an issue in this area. [...]
